Nomonde Lembede - (Josy)

Every month we feature an insight into the lives of one of our staff members or associates in order to learn more about the people that make up the Ian Dickie team. This month we interview Nomonde Lembede (Josy) from our Durban branch.

Josy as she is affectionately known by her colleagues and customers, is a long standing and much loved member of the Ian Dickie family.

Josy started working at Ian Dickie 21 years ago (August 97) in the Stores Department, where her role included receiving, despatch, job cards and internal sales for high pressure cleaner spares and drain cleaning equipment. At that time dealing with drain cleaning equipment was new to Josy, but thanks to the encouragement of her Manager, the late Cobie Grobler, as well as the assistance and support of her colleagues at our various branches, including Tyrone Jacobs, Vera, Lords, Gloria Adams and Amos, she was quickly able to learn the the ropes. Over the years, Josy has developed long standing relationships with her customers, some of whom have become life-long friends. In her own words Josy says that “she is humbled by life” and “learns something new every day from the people that life brings to her counter”, this not only points to the fact that Josy enjoys her job but also gives some insight into her humility and love of people.

Josy is clearly a very proud Mother and Grandmother, she has a 28 year old son and two beautiful grandchildren aged 6 and 5 respectively, she is also very fortunate to still have her mom with her. Apart from her passion for family the Church also plays a very important role in Josy’s life, she is also an enthusiastic member of her church choir.

A little known fact about Josy is that she has a gift for counselling people with problems, especially younger kids and the elderly. Having gained some small insight into Josy’s character through this interview, this comes as no surprise, Josy displays a wonderfully positive attitude to life and a genuine love of humanity, this, coupled with her faith and love of family no doubt stands her in good stead to help guide people through problems they might encounter in their lives.

When asked about what the new year holds for Ian Dickie, Josy believes the future is bright, not only because we have a loyal customer base and good quality products, but more particularly because of the strong family like relationship we enjoy with our staff throughout all Ian Dickie’s branches.

We sincerely thank Josy for her loyalty to the Ian Dickie brand as well as the refreshing insights into her life and wish her and her family everything of the best for the future.
