Madelaine Benade

Every month we feature an insight into the lives of one of our staff members or associates in order to learn more about the people that make up the Ian Dickie team. This month we interview Madelaine Benade from our Port Elizabeth Sales Dept.

Madelaine or Mads as she is affectionately known is a valued member of our Port Elizabeth sales team and has been working at Ian Dickie for 13 years. Having initially started her working career as a debt collector for a plumbing company, Madelaine discovered she enjoyed the challenge of working within the industry and her responsibility within the company soon progressed to the handling of tenders, quotes, procurement of materials, stock handling and overseeing completed jobs. Having gained good experience, Madelaine took up a job at another plumbing company that was involved in drain cleaning. It was here that Madelaine first came into contact with Ian Dickie when her company ordered a Combination Jetting unit for the then Malume Drain Specialist Company (later Teloc Waste Management). Seven years later Madelaine joined the Ian Dickie team.

When not at work, Madelaine enjoys making things with her hands, woodwork being of particular interest. Madelaine also prides herself on being able to fix or resolve practical issues rather than calling in so called experts. Like most of us Madelaine also enjoys a cold one around the fire with good friends and good music, however her undoubted passion is to spend quality time enjoying the outdoors with her two four legged children, Captain and Morgan.

My question with regard to milestones, people or events that have influenced Madelaine during her tenure at Ian Dickie seem best expressed in her own words. “From the moment I joined Ian Dickie I felt part of a family. To this day, that feeling remains as strong as the day I started. I feel like I have grown up in front of my superiors, (Ian Gie, Iain Fraser, Mike Greig, Angus Brown, Winston Roberston, Ally Gaffor) and truly value their ever-present guidance, assistance and knowledge with anything when needed. For my colleagues that I deal with on a daily basis, not just my PE branch, but also, CPT ( Desire Mitchell/ Neil Jacobs & Brad Gie), JHB (Nomsa Monyai/ Tanya Kruger & George Booysen), DBN (Richard McMahon). I feel like we have grown up alongside each other. We will always go out of our way to help and assist one another how and where we possibly can. At the end of the day, the crux of the relationship I enjoy with Ian Dickie is that it is a business that operates with family values.”

With regard to predictions about future business prospects for Ian Dickie, Madelaine says “Ian Dickie always strives to put out the best product in the market and I can say with peace of mind, that I have full confidence in our extensive range of products, ..this certainly makes my job in sales a whole lot easier!” Ironically Madelaine is currently working on tenders for Combination units which is how her story with Ian Dickie all started 13 years ago.

We would like to sincerely thank Madelaine for allowing us some insight into her life and particularly for her commitment and loyalty to the Ian Dickie brand.
